Stud girdles are so much more than a component to stop a rocker stud from breaking. Eliminating the rocker stud flex associated with horsepower loss caused from high-lift cams and high-pressure valve springs. This can be as much as .015″ of deflection in any one direction. This creates losses in valve lift and horse power loss. This movement along with the harmonics of the springs and pushrod flexing can be a recipe for disaster. Spintron Testing has shown increases in horsepower with the use of a good quality stud girdle, rocker studs and a strong quality pushrods.
